Day of the Stamp 1994
In 1991 the Austrian postal authority has put exceptional emphasis on its "Day of the Stamp" in which it has integrated the terms "Briefmarke" (stamp) and "Philatelie" (philately), resulting in the pairing of different letters. The 1994 issue, the 4th in this series, presents the letters "E" and "L" and depicts a painting from Professor Otto Stefferl in which a part of the Earth hovers on the border between ancient and modern times. The symbolism behind man´s architectural creativity, examples of which have fallen in ruin in the course of world history, demonstrate the mankind´s transience in the scope of eternal space and time.
